Can a stock 26M be modified like the Pearl has been?
A lot of the rigging, deck hardware, and equipment can be retrofitted to any 26M, and some things even to older models.
The keel system is not practical to retrofit as it would require structural reinforcement to the daggerboard trunk which is not accessable inside the ballast tank after the boat is assembled. The keel bulb, daggerboard, and hardware would also be very expensive unless it ever became a production thing. You also wouldn't ever get the boat as light as the Pearl, you'd still have the 300# of fixed internal ballast, and the structure of the Pearl is almost 200# lighter than stock.
